½ cup vegetable oil, or canola oil or melted coconut oil
2 large eggs, at room temperature
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 cup buttermilk, at room temperature
1 cup freshly brewed strong hot coffee or hot water
1¼ cups unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
3½ cups confectioners’ sugar
¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder, natural or Dutch-process
3 - 5 tbsp heavy cream, at room temperature, or half-and-half or milk
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
¼ tsp salt
