How it works

What is Scullery?

Scullery is a shared cookbook for your household. Save recipes from anywhere, decide together what to cook, then shop and cook from the same place.

What is the difference between Recipes, To try and Ideas?

In Scullery, Recipes are the ones you keep and To try holds the ones you haven’t cooked yet. Ideas are links, photos and notes that aren’t a whole recipe yet.

How does Scullery help us decide what to cook?

Scullery brings forward favourites and dishes that suit your household’s tastes. Anyone at home can put a recipe on tonight’s shortlist, then you pick one to cook.

How do shopping lists work?

Scullery adds a recipe’s ingredients to your household’s shared list in one tap. Matching items add up, and each line remembers which recipes it’s for.

What is cook mode?

Cook mode shows a Scullery recipe one step at a time, at your own pace, and keeps your screen on where your browser allows it.

Does Scullery count calories or order groceries?

Scullery doesn’t track what you eat or connect to a supermarket; it’s for choosing, shopping and cooking.

Saving recipes

Can Scullery save recipes from TikTok, Instagram and YouTube?

Yes: paste a TikTok, Instagram or YouTube link into Scullery’s Add tab. If the post doesn’t list its ingredients and steps, Scullery keeps it as an Idea with the link rather than inventing the rest.

Can I save recipes from websites, photos or cookbook pages?

Scullery saves recipes from a link, pasted text, or a scanned cookbook page or screenshot; for a photo of a finished dish, Recreate a dish writes a recipe you can edit.

Why can’t Scullery import some recipe websites?

Some sites block Scullery from reading them. Your link stays in place: open the original page and paste the ingredients and steps, or scan a screenshot.

Where do the recipes in Other kitchens come from?

Scullery’s Other kitchens links to recipes on their publishers’ sites and shows ingredients, never the method; saving one brings the method into your private cookbook. Publishers can ask us to take theirs down at [email protected].

Your account

Is Scullery free?

Yes, Scullery is free for your whole household. It’s in open beta with no invite needed: sign up with Google or an email address, and expect the odd rough edge.

Who can see what I save?

What you save in Scullery is private to your household. You can request your data or delete your account in Settings, or write to [email protected].

Are there limits on what I can save?

Scullery has no cap on recipes. Reading links, photos and videos has a fair-use limit for each person and each household; if you reach one, you may wait a moment, and your recipe still saves.
